four month check up
Ben had his four month check up yesterday. He now weighs 15 pounds, 11 ounces (60th percentile) and is 25.5 inches long (70th percentile). When the doctor picked him up, he said "wow, he's solid!" He's a sturdy little guy, but we've been watching a flat spot on the back of Ben's head for a while and it hasn't gotten any better with sleep positioning. Because it hasn't improved, our pediatrician decided it's time to do a 3D CT scan. The concern is that the plates in Ben's scull have prematurely fused. So, we're headed to Vanderbilt Children's on Friday. Ben will have "moderate sedation" to make him sleep through the procedure because he needs to be very still. We should have a follow up with a specialist to hear the results next week. If the plates have not fused, Ben will probably have to wear a sort of compression helmet for a few months. If the plates have fused, we're looking at surgery. Obviously we're praying for the least invasive remedy. Please help us pray for our little man.
