dedication

Sunday was Anna's dedication. At our church, dedication is really more of a parent dedication since we have the primary responsibility for and influence over her life (Proverbs 22:6). So we had the opportunity to publicly declare our intentions to raise Anna in the fear and admonition of the Lord and the church body had an opportunity to commit to walking with us.

We were asked two questions:

“Do you publicly declare this day that it is your intention to passionately pursue your relationship with God with all your heart, your soul, and your strength and faithfully live out the teachings of Scripture?”

“We Do.”

“Do you commit that you will teach the Word of God diligently to your child as you provide a Christ centered home where you will bring up your child in the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord?”

“We do.”

Then, the congregation stood and dedicated themselves to help each family raise their children in the admonition of the Lord:

“In accordance with and in obedience to the Scripture, we dedicate ourselves to you and your family to encourage your child towards faith in Christ, to help them mature in the faith, and give their lives away for His kingdom and glory.”

We felt incredibly blessed and loved to look out over the congregation and see our church leaders, close friends, and family standing in support. Thank you for walking with us as we navigate parenthood - what an honor and responsibility to raise Anna Violet!
